Warriors Drop Tournament Tune-Up To Red Hawks

WLC is idle until NACC Tournament First Round on April 27

JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College was swept in doubles play and couldn't recover in singles as it fell 7-0 to Ripon in a non-conference match on Friday at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club.

The Red Hawks (9-14) took early control by claiming all three doubles flights. At No. 1, Josie Rondestvedt and Jessi Griepentrog defeated junior Maddy Olson (Onalaska, Wis.) and sophomore Joelle Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) 6-4. RC extended the lead at No. 2, where Catherine Skoglund and Allison Pavlovec posted a 6-2 win over freshmen Addie Prochazka (Sussex, Wis.) and Sophia Schroeder (Tampa, Fla.). Ripon completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 from Allison Larson and Isabella Engstrom against freshmen Lexi Yerges (Beaver Dam, Wis.) and Annaliese Bruns (Onalaska, Wis.).

In singles, the Red Hawks carried their momentum through the lineup, winning all six matches in straight sets. Rondestvedt secured a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Olson at No. 1, while Larson followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Smith at No. 2. Griepentrog and Skoglund added victories at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, each by 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-0 scores. Pavlovec and Isabella Demeuse closed out the match with straight-set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 over senior Lucia Gallardo Martos (Torrejon De Ardoz, Spain) and Bruns.

The Warriors (3-7) will turn their attention to postseason play. Sixth-seeded WLC will make its ninth consecutive NACC Tournament appearance on Monday, April 27, when it faces third-seeded Edgewood (14-8) in a first-round match.
