WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Concordia Wisconsin by scores of 10-1 and 8-6 on Friday at Neumann Family Field.
Game 1: Concordia Wisconsin 10, Wisconsin Lutheran 1 (5 Inn.)
The Falcons (25-13, 16-6 NACC) scored twice in the first inning and broke the game open with four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
The Warriors (16-22, 8-14 NACC) got on the board in the third inning. Freshman
Rebecca Reddeman (Canton, Mich.) led off with a single and later came around to score on freshman
Addyson Wheeler's (Freeport, Ill.) sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 2-1.
CUW quickly answered, extending its lead with a multi-run fourth inning before adding four more in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Freshman
Katelyn Ruth (Canton, Mich.) paced WLC at the plate, going 2-for-2. Reddeman added a hit and scored the team's lone run, while sophomore
Raquel Shields (Itasca, Ill.) also recorded a hit.
Concordia Wisconsin finished with 12 hits, led by Jenna Shadoski's 3-for-3 performance with two RBIs and two runs scored. Anya Weiler also went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Jenna Lischka added two hits and two runs scored. Faith Keiper earned the win in the circle, allowing one run on four hits over five innings while striking out seven and walking one.
Game 2: Concordia Wisconsin 8, Wisconsin Lutheran 6
The Falcons scored four runs in the first inning and added to their lead with single runs in the second and three more in the third to build an 8-0 advantage.
Wisconsin Lutheran broke through in the fifth inning. After a leadoff single and another base hit, sophomore
Kylie Gaston (Albertville, Minn.) delivered an RBI double to put the Warriors on the board. Later in the inning, Wheeler followed with an RBI double to cut the deficit to 8-2.
WLC continued to rally in the sixth, stringing together five hits. Sophomore
Natalie Jordan (Cincinnati, Ohio) highlighted the inning with a two-run double, then later came around to score on junior
Sommer Krull's (New London, Wis.) RBI single. Ruth added another RBI knock as Wisconsin Lutheran pulled within 8-6.
However, CUW was able to close out the game in the seventh to secure the win.
Jordan led the Warriors at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Krull and freshman
Hannah Stellmacher (Fairwater, Wis.) each recorded two hits, while Gaston added a double and an RBI in a pinch-hit appearance.
For Concordia Wisconsin, Shadoski scored three runs and collected two hits, while Nora Statz and Rylie DuVal each tallied two hits and two RBIs. Emma Shellstrom earned the win in the circle, allowing two runs on seven hits over 5.0 innings while striking out two and issuing no walks.
