MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College Director of Athletics
Jeremiah Hoffmann announced today the hiring of
Kyle Kubacki as the first head coach of the Warriors Women's Flag Football program.
Kubacki, who currently serves as the defensive line coach for the WLC football program, will lead the development of the newest varsity sport at Wisconsin Lutheran as the college prepares to begin competition in 2028.
"Kyle has demonstrated a tremendous passion for Wisconsin Lutheran College and for developing student-athletes during his time as both a player and coach," said Hoffmann. "His leadership, work ethic, and commitment to our Christian mission make him the ideal person to build our Women's Flag Football program from the ground up. We are excited to see him establish a culture that reflects our values while providing an outstanding experience for our student-athletes."
Kubacki joined the Warriors football coaching staff in 2025 after concluding one of the most decorated defensive careers in program history. A 2024 graduate of WLC with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management, Kubacki was a four-time All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference selection, a three-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree, and a four-time NACC Scholar-Athlete.
During his playing career from 2020-2024, Kubacki helped lead Wisconsin Lutheran to record-tying 7-3 campaign during his senior season. He finished his career ranked fourth in program history in both sacks and tackles for loss while also ranking second in quarterback hurries.
"I am beyond excited and honored to be named the Women's Flag Football head coach at WLC," said Kubacki. "This college holds a special place in my heart and it's a blessing to be able to serve the next generation of student-athletes. I want to thank Director of Athletics
Jeremiah Hoffmann for this opportunity and the trust he has placed in me. I also want to thank Eric Treske and Steve Donovan as well as all of the other coaches who have helped me get to this point. I can't wait to get to work and build something special at WLC."
Announced in February, Women's Flag Football will become the Warriors' 21st varsity sport. WLC will be the 10th college or university in Wisconsin to sponsor the sport and the first NCAA member institution in the Milwaukee area to offer Women's Flag Football. Wisconsin Lutheran will also become the sixth member of the NACC to sponsor the sport at the varsity level.
Women's Flag Football was added to the NCAA Emerging Sports for Women program in 2026 and is expected to become a full NCAA championship sport by 2028. The sport will also make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, reflecting its rapid growth across both the collegiate and international landscape.
A native of Milwaukee and graduate of St. Francis High School, Kubacki received his master's degree in Sport and Recreation Management from WLC in May 2026.
