LISLE, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered a narrow 1-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference defeat to Benedictine on Saturday at Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex.

The Eagles broke through for the lone score of the contest in the 21st minute. Xavier Avila sent a feed to Jakub Kasiak, who converted for his first goal of the season.

The Warriors pushed to find an equalizer, including a scoring opportunity from senior Aydan Scortino (Pewaukee, Wis.) in the 76th minute, but BenU goalkeeper Abraham Tiburcio turned away the attempt to secure the clean sheet.

Benedictine held advantages across the final team statistics, outshooting WLC 19-4 overall and holding an 8-1 margin in shots on goal. The Eagles also earned five corner kicks compared to two for Wisconsin Lutheran.

Four different Warriors recorded one shot apiece: Scortino, junior Rafael Galindo (Delavan, Wis.), senior Andrew King (East Moline, Ill.), and sophomore Bogdan Tereshchenko (Green Bay, Wis.), with Scortino delivering the team's lone shot on target. Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Determan (Racine, Wis.) anchored WLC's defense, finishing with seven saves across all 90 minutes.

For BenU (3-3-2, 2-0-1 NACC), Nico Gonzalez-Polar led all players with five shots. Tiburcio earned the victory in goal, stopping the only shot on target he faced.

Wisconsin Lutheran (2-5-1, 1-1-1 NACC) returns to conference action on Wednesday when it travels to Plymouth to take on Lakeland (7-2-1, 1-1-1 NACC) at 7 p.m.
