Women’s Tennis Drops Season Opener At Edgewood

Warriors win games in every set but two against Eagles

MADISON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College opened its 2026 season and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Saturday, falling 7-0 to Edgewood at Madison West High School.

The Eagles (2-2, 2-0 NACC) took control early during doubles play, sweeping all three matches to secure the opening point. At the No. 1 spot, junior Maddy Olson (Onalaska, Wis.) and freshman Bryce Banick (Wichita, Kan.) fell 6-2 to Hattie Plenty and Kaitlyn Narkis. The No. 2 duo of sophomores Addie Prochazka (Sussex, Wis.) and Annaliese Bruns (Onalaska, Wis.) also dropped a 6-2 decision to Isabella Kowalak and Maya Connaughty, while junior Tai Mitchell (Elm Grove, Wis.) and freshman Leah Moen (Oshkosh, Wis.) were defeated 6-1 at No. 3 by Sophia Perret and Gabby Schmidtmann.

In singles action, EU continued its momentum to sweep the remaining six points. Olson battled at the top flight, taking the first set 7-5 against Plenty before Plenty rallied to take the next two sets 6-2, 10-3. At No. 2, Prochazka fell 6-0, 6-1 to Kowalak.

The Warriors saw Mitchell drop a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 3 singles to Narkis, while Banick fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 to Perret. In the final two flights, Bruns was defeated 6-0, 6-3 by Connaughty at No. 5, and Moen fell 6-1, 6-3 to Emory at No. 6.

Wisconsin Lutheran (0-1, 0-1 NACC) returns to action next Saturday, September 12 for its home opener against Marian (0-4, 0-0 NACC). First serve is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Hart Park.
