WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College scored two unanswered goals in the second half to erase a halftime deficit and defeat Martin Luther 2-1 in a non-conference matchup on Sunday at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (1-2-0) dominated the stat sheet but found themselves trailing late in the first half. The Knights (1-1-1) broke the scoreless tie in the 41st minute when Jonah Uhlenbrauck netted his first goal of the season at the 40:39 mark. Despite WLC outshooting MLC 12-1 in the opening period, Martin Luther carried a 1-0 lead into the break.

Wisconsin Lutheran's persistence paid off in the 70th minute. After a foul in the box, senior Andrew King (East Moline, Ill.) converted a penalty kick at 69:54 to pull the Warriors level. Less than eight minutes later, freshman Matthew Wilton-Tamayo (Elk Grove, Calif.) delivered the game-winner, scoring unassisted at 77:31 to give WLC its first victory of the season.

Wisconsin Lutheran finished the match with a commanding 27-3 advantage in total shots and a 14-1 edge in shots on goal. The Warriors also earned six corner kicks compared to just one for the Knights.

Junior Owen Gault (Moline, Ill.) earned the win in net for WLC, playing the final 49 minutes of scoreless action. MLC goalkeeper Nicholas Russ kept the visitors in the game with a standout performance, recording 12 saves.

Wisconsin Lutheran returns to action on Thursday, September 10 when it hosts Carthage (1-1-1) for a non-conference match at Warriors Soccer Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
