Head coach Eric Treske states “It’s an incredible blessing to have Coach Zauner bring his expertise and passion to our staff. We’re grateful to have him in our Warriors family and excited to see our specialists grow.”

Coach Zauner brings a wealth of knowledge to the WLC staff as he has coached the kicking game at the high school (6 years), college (11 years), and professional levels (13 years). His collegiate stops included BYU (1979-1980), San Diego State (1981-1985), University of New Mexico (1987-1988), and Long Beach State (1990-1991). Coach Zauner also holds the distinction of being named the first Full-Time Special Teams Coach in NCAA history.

Zauner guided NFL special teams units for the Vikings (1993-2001), Ravens (2002-2005), and Cardinals (2006) with outstanding results. His specialists broke numerous NFL records including the most consecutive field goals (twice), longest field goal return for a TD, and most kickoff touchbacks. In more recent years he has consulted with many college and NFL players to aid them in their pursuit of professional careers through his camps, combines, and lessons.  The 2011, 2017 and 2018 Lou Groza award winners (NCAA’s top kicker) were all mentored by Zauner. In total he has worked with over 140 professional kicking specialists (38 Pro Bowlers) and 34 snappers on professional rosters.

Coach Zauner is a 1968 graduate of Milwaukee Hamilton High School and holds BS (1972) and MS (1980) degrees from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. He is also a 2013 inductee into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Hall of Fame.
