Former Riverside University High School head football coach Patrick Wagner is in his third season as an assistant coach at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Wagner will coach the Warriors’ defensive backs.
Wagner, who was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) Hall of Fame on April 6, 2024, served as head coach at Riverside University High School from 2001-2022. The nine-time Coach of the Year in the Richardson Division of the Milwaukee City Conference guided the Tigers to eight conference titles, two WIAA state semifinal appearances, and compiled an overall record of 124-88.
In addition, he was crowned Region Coach of the Year nine times, and was named the 2006 AP Wisconsin Coach of the Year. Wagner coached over 75 players who played collegiately, including three who made careers in the NFL.
Wagner began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UW-Whitewater in 1993. He joined the Riverside University High School coaching staff in 1997 as assistant defensive coordinator, a position he held for four seasons before his promotion to head coach. He currently teaches in the Milwaukee Public Schools.
Wagner was coached by Bob Berezowitz at the UW-Whitewater, and Jim Jeskewitz at Menomonee Falls High School. Both are members of the WFCA Hall of Fame.
Wagner and his wife, Karen, live in Menomonee Falls with their children, Nicholas and Angelena.
