MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's basketball team collected a thrilling 108-102 victory over
Bethany Lutheran College in a non-conference game on Friday in the
first day of the Wisconsin Basketball Classic at the Recreation
Complex.
Kyle Plath (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran), who was one
of five players to reach double figures, poured in a game-high 27
points on 8-11 shooting. Marcus Zondag (Randolph, Wis./Randolph)
finished with 23 pints and 10 rebounds, while Danny Behm (Jackson,
Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) followed with 18 points and 12
assists.
Christian Lindberg (Horsens, Denmark) and Kyle Madson (Madison,
Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) added 18 and 11 points, respectively.
The Warriors trailed by as much as eight points in the first
half and trailed 58-55 at halftime. Wisconsin Lutheran grabbed the
lead for good at the 11:30 mark of the second half when Behm
knocked down a three-pointer for a 79-77 lead.
In a game that saw 14 lead changes, WLC managed to get to the
free three line 55 times, while the Vikings only attempted 15. Each
team shot 51 percent from the field
Bethany Lutheran (1-3), who had five players foul out in the
game, was led by Travis Priem's 20 points. As a team, the Vikings
connected on 13 three-point field goals.
The 108 points put up by the Warriors ranks 10th all-time is
school history.
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-0) will be back in action tomorrow when it
hosts Carroll College in the second day of the Wisconsin Basketball
Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Recreation
Complex.
