MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's soccer team concluded its 2008 Northern Athletics
Conference schedule by falling to the MSOE Raiders 4-2 on Tuesday
evening at Uihlein Soccer Park.
The Warriors played to a scoreless first half tie despite being
out-shot 11-2 in the first half by the Raiders.
MSOE notched its first goal of the second half at the 54:38
mark, but Wisconsin Lutheran tied the game at 1-1 when Trish Mahnke
(Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) netted an unassisted goal in
the 60th minute. The Raiders countered with two straight goals in
the 64th and 68th minute for a 3-1 advantage.
Junior Catie Schultz (Green Bay, Wis./N.E.W. Lutheran) cut the
deficit to 3-2 when she found the back of the net at 76:19. MSOE
added an insurance goal at 86:05 for the 4-2 final margin.
Sophomore Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) made 12
saves in goal for WLC, which tallied six shots in the contest,
compared to 29 for the Raiders.
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-15, 3-9 NAC) hosts non-conference opponent
UW-Platteville on Friday at 5 p.m. at Warrior Field in its final
home game of the 2008 season.
