AURORA, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
softball team dropped a pair of games to conference co-leader
Aurora University on Wednesday afternoon at the Stuart Sportsplex.
WLC lost the first game by a score of 3-1 and dropped the second
9-0.
Breanne Duebner (Manitowoc, Wis./Lutheran) tied the game at one
in the fourth inning by hitting her fourth home run of the season.
The score stayed tied until Aurora took the lead for good by
scoring two runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth.
Wisconsin Lutheran was held to two hits by Aurora's starting
pitcher. Duebner had two hits, hitting a single along with her home
run.
Michelle Shambeau (Two Rivers, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) took the
loss throwing six innings, surrendering three runs, eight hits, two
walks and struck out three.
Aurora grabbed a quick lead in the second game and never looked
back, tallying three runs in the first inning to go on for the 9-0
win.
Wisconsin Lutheran managed just four hits while freshman Emily
Foster (Brookfield, Wis./East) recorded two of them, going 2-for-2
with a double.
Laura Konop (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) suffered the loss. She
threw five innings, gave up eight runs (six earned), walked five
and fanned two.
Wisconsin Lutheran (14-12, 12-6 NAC) hosts Maranatha Baptist
Bible College on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Warrior Field.
