MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
softball team erupted to score 41 runs in two games as it defeated
the MSOE Raiders on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.
Wisconsin Lutheran won the first game of the day 10-0 in five
innings. The Warriors scored all of their 10 runs in the first
inning and tallied 11 hits for the ball game. Lisa Cates (Lakeside,
Ariz./Blue Ridge) had a dominating performance going 3-for-3 with
one run batted in and two runs scored.
Senior pitcher Michelle Shambeau (Two Rivers, Wis./Manitowoc
Lutheran) pitched all five innings while striking out 10 and only
allowing only hit.
Wisconsin Lutheran turned it up a notch in the second game of
the doubleheader, posting a 31-0 shutout. The Warriors put up runs
in all five innings, while scoring an impressive 17 runs in the
third inning.
Highlighting the offensive attack were seniors Breanne Duebner
(Manitowoc, Wis./Lutheran) and senior Rachel Doege (Menomonee
Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls). Both recorded five RBIs and scored
four runs.
Freshman Laura Konop (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) picked up the
win in relief by pitching three scoreless innings while giving up
three hits.
Wisconsin Lutheran (7-9, 5-3 NAC) caps off its busy weekend with
a doubleheader at Alverno College on Sunday at 12 p.m.
