MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
softball team collected a pair of wins over the Alverno College
Inferno on Sunday in a Northern Athletics Conference
doubleheader.
Emily Foster (Brookfield, Wis./East) put Wisconsin Lutheran on
the board early by hitting her first home run of the season in the
first inning. She drove in an additional run pulling the Warriors
out to a quick 2-0 lead.
Seniors Lisa Cates (Lakeside, Ariz./Blue Ridge) and Rachel Doege
(Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) had a stellar performances.
Cates went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Doege went 2-for-5 with two
doubles, an RBI and a run scored.
WLC combined for nine runs off 11 hits to win the game 9-2.
In game two of the doubleheader Wisconsin Lutheran shutout
Alverno 2-0.
In the second game, senior Michelle Shambeau (Two Rivers,
Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) pitched the shutout, allowing only six
hits while recording four strikeouts.
A three-hit, two-run sixth inning by Wisconsin Lutheran was
enough for it to win the ball game. Doege led the way again going
2-for-3 with a double.
Wisconsin Lutheran (9-9, 7-3 NAC) travels to River Forest, Ill.,
on Wednesday for a pair of games against the Dominican University
Stars. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
