SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran College
fell to the Lakeland College Muskies 1-0 in a Northern Athletics
Conference men's soccer bout Saturday afternoon. It was the
Warriors' sixth one-goal defeat of the season.
The visiting Warriors and host Muskies battled through a
scoreless first-half tie. WLC tallied two shots in the opening
period, while Lakeland finished with five.
The second half remained knotted at zeros for the first 22:46.
LC's Rodolfo Sosa put the hosts up 1-0 at 73:46 on an assist from
Ted Cormier. The Warriors, who totaled seven second-half shots
compared to 10 for the Muskies, were held in check the rest of the
way.
Kurt Billot (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater), Matt Birschbach
(Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Trevor Schwartz (Lake
Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) each had two shots for Wisconsin
Lutheran. Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) made eight
saves in the contest.
Cormier led Lakeland with four shots, while goalkeeper Alex
Piekarski collected five saves.
WLC (3-8-2, 1-4-1 NAC) travels to conference co-leader and
preseason favorite Dominican University on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in
River Forest, Ill.
