Sabres' late surge downs Warriors

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Marian University Sabres scored four goals in the last six minutes of the second period to defeat WLC 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference game at Smith Fields.

The Warriors displayed solid defense throughout the entire match, holding the Sabres off the scoreboard through 84 of 90 minutes of action. Junior goalkeeper Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) faced 42 shots and made 21 saves in goal for WLC.

Carly Saunders scored MU's first goal at 84:15 to break the scoreless tie. Danielle Grable and Mariel Bartolutti each added tallies in the 87th minute. Grable capped the Sabres scoring with three seconds left on the second-half clock. Kim Kriese finished with 11 shots to lead Marian (6-3, 5-2 NAC)

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-9, 1-5 NAC) travels across town on Tuesday to face the Alverno College Inferno in a 4 p.m. NAC showdown.
