CLERMONT, Fla. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
softball team was defeated by the Bethel University Royals 13-1 in
the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at the National
Training Center Spring Games.
Bethel scored runs in each of the four innings that it went to
the plate, including six in the bottom of the first inning. The
Royals won the contest in five innings due to run rule. Wisconsin
Lutheran tallied its only run of the game in the top of the third
inning when Maggie Mueller (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport)
scored on an Emily Foster (Brookfield, Wis./East) RBI
groundout.
Sophomore Laura Konop (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and freshman
Stephanie Sack (Granger, Ind./Michigan Lutheran) recorded the
Warriors' other two hits on the afternoon. Junior Jenny Boelk (Fond
du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) pitched all four innings for WLC,
striking out two batters.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-5) takes on Bethel in the second game of
its doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. in its final game of its
spring break trip.
