CLERMONT, Fla. - Wisconsin Lutheran College was
defeated by the Bethel University Royals 6-1 on Saturday in the
second game of a doubleheader. The Warriors finished their spring
break trip with a 2-6 record at the National Training Center Spring
Games.
Bethel grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning when it
strung together three hits. The game remained 2-0 in favor of the
Royals until the top of the fifth when the visitors plated three
more runs. Wisconsin Lutheran got on the scoreboard in the bottom
of the sixth when Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran)
crossed home plate on a passed ball. Bethel added its sixth and
final run in the top of seventh for the 6-1 final margin.
Sloan, Jenny Boelk (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and
Stephanie Sack (Granger, Ind./Michigan Lutheran) each had hits for
the Warriors. Laura Konop (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) pitched all
seven innings for WLC, allowing four earned runs and striking out
five.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-6) returns to the diamond on Wednesday,
March 25 when it opens up Northern Athletics Conference play
against Rockford College. First pitch of the twinbill between the
Warriors and Regents is slated for 3 p.m. at Warrior Field.
