WLC blanked by Benedictine

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team was blanked by the Benedictine University Eagles 14-0 in five innings in the first game of a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Wisconsin Lutheran and Benedictine played through a scoreless first inning before the Eagles plated their first two runs of the game in the top of the second. Benedictine added to its total when it scored three runs in the third, five in the fourth and four more in the fifth. The game came to an end after five complete due to run rule.

Freshman Emily Helwig (Westland, Mich./Huron Valley Lutheran) was credited with WLC's only hit of the game when she singled in the fifth inning.

Sam Corbin and Kristin Bonk each went 2-for-3 to lead the Eagles (16-5, 6-1 NAC), who finished with nine hits in the contest.

Wisconsin Lutheran (7-12, 5-6 NAC) hosts Benedictine in the second game of its doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m. at Warrior Field.
