MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin Lutheran College was
defeated by the Benedictine University Eagles 8-3 on Friday in the
second game of a Northern Athletics Conference softball
doubleheader at Warrior Field.
WLC and Benedictine went three scoreless innings before either
team could send a run across the plate. The Eagles erupted for six
runs in the fourth to take the lead. The Warriors answered right
back in the bottom of the frame when sophomore Lindsey Phillips
(Houston, Minn./Houston) singled home sophomore Katie Sloan (Omaha,
Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) and freshman Stephanie Sack (Granger,
Ind./Michigan Lutheran) to cut the deficit to 6-2.
Benedictine plated two more runs in the fifth before WLC tallied
its final run of the game in the seventh on an RBI groundout from
Laura Konop (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) that plated Phillips.
Phillips, who finished with two RBIs in the game, was one of
four players to record one hit for the Warriors.
Kristin Bonk went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored to
lead the Eagles (17-5, 7-1 NAC), who won their fifth straight
game.
Wisconsin Lutheran (7-13, 5-7 NAC) hosts the Concordia
University Chicago Cougars on Monday in a noon NAC doubleheader at
Warrior Field.
