VERONA, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
softball team suffered a tough 2-1 loss to the Edgewood College
Eagles on Tuesday in the second game of a Northern Athletics
Conference doubleheader at Ceniti Park.
Edgewood took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a
sacrifice fly by Charli Metcalf. Wisconsin Lutheran came right back
to tie the game at 1-1 in the third as Jenny Boelk (Fond du Lac,
Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg,
Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) hit back-to-back doubles with two outs in
the frame.
The Eagles crossed their eventual game-winning run across the
plate in the bottom of the third when Emily Monson scored on a wild
pitch. The Warriors left a pair of runners on base in the fourth
but were unable to put any hits together for the remaining four
innings of play.
Boelk and Dittmar tallied WLC's only two hits of the game.
Sophomore Laura Konop (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) was handed the
loss in the circle. She allowed just two hits and two runs in three
innings of work, but was plagued by six walks.
A trio of players each recorded a hit in the contest for the
Eagles (10-12, 5-5 NAC), who left eight runners stranded on the
base in the game. Rachel Elliot pitched 2.1 innings in relief to
earn the win for Edgewood. Jenna Ryan picked up the save.
Wisconsin Lutheran (8-16, 6-10 NAC) hosts NAC preseason favorite
Aurora University on Thursday in its final home doubleheader of the
season. First pitch between the Warriors and Spartans is scheduled
for 3 p.m. at Warrior Field.
