WATERTOWN, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran finished
its sweep of Maranatha Baptist Bible College by collecting a 7-2
victory in the second game of a Northern Athletics Conference
doubleheader on Saturday at Riverside Park.
The Warriors got out to a quick start once again, scoring a pair
of runs in the top half of the first inning. Junior Jenny Boelk
(Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and sophomore Emily Foster
(Brookfield, Wis./East) each had an RBI for WLC. Maranatha was able
to match the Warriors' offensive attack by scoring its only two
runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 2-2.
After both teams were unable to score for the next two frames.
Freshman Stephanie Sack (Granger, Ind./Michigan Lutheran) tripled
and scored on a wild pitch to give the Warriors another run.
Maranatha was unable to match that as Wisconsin Lutheran had a 3-2
lead after four innings and never looked back.
Catcher Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran), who
finished 2-for-4 in the contest, hit a two-run home run in the
fifth to give the WLC a 5-2 lead. The Warriors scored their final
two runs of the game in the sixth inning on a Laura Konop
(Germantown, Wis./Germantown) two-run single to go up 7-2.
Konop and Boelk both made appearances on the mound for the
Warriors, with Boelk getting her second win of the day.
Wisconsin Lutheran (10-18, 8-12 NAC) travels to Sheboygan, Wis.,
on Wednesday for a NAC doubleheader against the Lakeland College
Muskies. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
