Warriors lose on walk-off home run

MEQUON, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran lost the first game of the NAC softball doubleheader at Concordia Wisconsin 3-2 Tuesday on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

After a slow offensive start to the game and being down 1-0 in the fifth inning, the Warriors struck for two runs. Sophomore Lindsay Phillips (Houston, Minn./Houston) had an RBI single and shortstop Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) had an RBI double for WLC. WLC's 2-1 lead was broken in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Falcons added another run to knot the game at 2-2.

Neither team could pull ahead of the other in the sixth inning, and the Warriors were unable to get a run in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Concordia's Chelsie Strosina hit the game-winning homer to end the game with a 3-2 CUW victory.

Junior Jenny Boelk (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) pitched a complete game for the Warriors, giving up two earned runs and striking out four.

The Warriors (10-21, 8-15 NAC) will face the Falcons (19-20, 13-10 NAC) for the second game of the NAC doubleheader at 4 p.m.
