FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College softball team was defeated by Marian 8-0 in six innings in
the second game of a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader on
Tuesday evening at Smith Fields.
MU struck early and often in game two, plating a pair of runs in
the bottom of the first inning for a 2-0 lead. The Sabres, who
finished with 12 hits in the contest, scored single runs in each of
the next four innings to take a 6-0 advantage into the sixth.
The hosts tallied their final two runs in the sixth to once
again end the game via run rule.
Sophomore Laura Konop (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and freshmen
Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) and Stephanie
Sack (Granger, Ind./Michigan Lutheran) each finished with one hit
in the game to account for all of WLC's hits. Junior Jenny Boelk
(Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) went 5.2 innings on the
mound for the Warriors, allowing eight runs, four of which were
earned. She struck out three without walking a batter.
Ashley Engler went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI to
lead the Sabres (7-11, 3-3 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (7-9, 5-3 NAC) hosts Dominican University in
a NAC doubleheader on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Warrior Field.
