MILWAUKEE - WLC's softball team was shutout by
the Dominican University Stars 12-0 on Wednesday in the second game
of a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader at Warrior
Field.
The Stars erupted for six runs on four hits in the top of the
first inning to take an early 6-0 lead over Wisconsin Lutheran.
After a scoreless second, Dominican added to its lead by adding six
more runs on six hits in the third. The Warriors were unable to get
run on the scoreboard over the final three innings and the game
came to a halt after five complete inings due to run rule.
Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran), Emily Foster
(Brookfield, Wis./East), Lindsey Phillips (Houston, Minn./Houston)
and Ashley Zautner (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) accounted for
the Warriors' four hits in the contest.
Carolyn Rogers went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored
to lead the Stars' (13-7, 5-3 NAC) offense.
Wisconsin Lutheran (7-11, 5-5 NAC) looks to bounce back when it
plays host to the Benedictine University Eagles in Friday in a NAC
doubleheader beginning at noon at Warrior Field.
