MILWAUKEE - The Beloit College Buccaneers
scored three goals in the final 20 minutes of the first half and
went on to defeat the WLC women's soccer squad 4-0 on Saturday at
Warrior Field to claim the 2009 Warrior Cup.
Wisconsin Lutheran held the visitors off the scoreboard through
the first 24:30 until Anna Blankschien netted the first of her two
goals in the contest. Beloit wasted no time attacking, adding
another goal 32 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. Blankschien netted
her second goal at 35:25 as the Warriors trailed 3-0 at
halftime.
WLC displayed solid defense in the second half, holding the Bucs
scoreless for 43 minutes of the half before Beloit (2-1) netted its
final tally in the 88th minute. Blankschien finished with a
game-high eight shots for the Bucs.
Junior Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) faced 46
shots and made 24 saves in the contest for WLC, which was held
without a shot attempt in the game.
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-3) hosts Robert Morris College in a
non-conference contest on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Warrior Field.
