CLERMONT, Fla. - Wisconsin Lutheran College
edged Bethel University 5-3 to collect its second win at the
National Training Center Spring Games on Saturday morning.
Sophomore Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran)
doubled in the first inning allowing freshman Lauren Mantz (West
Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) to score the first run of the
game after she reached on an earlier error. Bethel countered with
one run in the third on a RBI groundout to tie the game at one
apiece.
The Warriors scored three more runs in the fourth with RBIs from
sophomore Maggie Mueller (Mt. Calvary, Wis./Campbellsport), senior
Ashley Zautner (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and freshman Katie
Timm (Franklin, Wis./Franklin). Mueller doubled in another run in
the fifth and Bethel scored two runs of its own in bottom of the
frame.
Stephanie Sack (Granger, Ind./Michigan Lutheran) went 2-for-3
for the Warriors, who finished with eight hits in the contest. Timm
earned her second win (2-1) of the young season with a
complete-game, five-strikeout performance. She allowed three earned
runs while scattering six hits.
Stephanie Vosberg and Ashley Johnsen led the Royals (0-1) by
each going 2-for-3. Vosberg scored two runs and Johnsen had one
RBI. Charitey Rowden was dealt the loss, allowing four runs but
only one earned.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-3) will conclude its action at the
National Training Center Spring Games against RPI at 11:30 a.m. on
Saturday.
