LISLE, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
softball team dropped the first game of its Northern Athletics
Conference doubleheader with Benedictine University by a score of
19-2 in five innings on Friday afternoon at the Village of Lisle-BU
Sports Complex.
The Eagles came out swinging from the start, scoring nine runs
on eight hits in the first inning. Benedictine followed with six
runs in the second inning and three more in the third. The Eagles
finished with 17 hits, five of which were for extra bases.
The Warriors ended Benedictine's shutout bid in the fifth inning
when junior Laura Konop (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and senior
Jenny Boelk (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) smacked a pair
of RBI doubles. Boelk finished the game 2-for-3, while Konop was
2-for-2 with a run scored.
Eight of BU's 19 runs were unearned as WLC committed six errors
in the game.
Brittany Wolski led the Benedictine offense by going 3-for-5
with four RBIs and four runs scored. Kara Walsh was also 3-for-3
with three RBIs and two runs scored. Brittany Adcox (6-1) earned
the win for the Eagles (10-4, 1-0 NAC), tossing 4.0 scoreless
innings, yielding three hits and striking out four.
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-8, 0-3 NAC) faces the Eagles again in the
second game of its conference doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Friday.
