LISLE, Ill. - Benedictine University started
right where it left off in game one on Friday afternoon by
collecting a 19-0 victory in five innings over Wisconsin Lutheran
in the second game of its Northern Athletics Conference
doubleheader at the Village of Lisle-BU Sports Complex.
After freshman starting pitcher Katie Timm (Franklin,
Wis./Franklin) kept Benedictine scoreless in the first inning, the
Eagles busted out with six runs on four hits, with help from two
WLC errors in the second inning. BU added three runs in the third
and then erupted for a 10-spot in the fourth inning put the game
out of reach as it ended in five innings.
A double by junior Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran)
and a single from sophomore Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg,
Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) accounted for the only two hits for WLC in
the game. Timm received the loss (2-3), giving up eight earned runs
in 4.0 innings pitched. The seven errors committed by Wisconsin
Lutheran were a season high.
Lisa Rybak had three hits with an RBI and Kara Walsh knocked in
three runs to pace the BU (11-4, 2-0 NAC) offense, which had 14
hits. Sam Corban earned the win (1-0) by pitching 3.1 shutout
innings in relief of starter Kaitlin Walsh.
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-9, 0-4 NAC) concludes its six-game
conference road trip with a doubleheader at Concordia University
Chicago in River Forest, Ill., on Tuesday, April 6. First pitch of
game one is scheduled for 3 p.m.
