MILWAUKEE - The Concordia University Wisconsin
Falcons collected a 7-0 shutout win over Wisconsin Lutheran on
Monday in the second game of a Northern Athletics Conference
softball doubleheader at Warrior Field.
After a scoreless first inning opened the game, the Falcons
accumulated four runs on five hits in the second to jump out to an
early advantage over the Warriors. CUW made it 5-0 the next half
inning on three hits.
WLC kept CUW off of the scoreboard for the next three straight
innings as the Warriors found themselves trailing by five. The
Falcons scored their final two runs of the game in the seventh off
of a hit and error for the final 7-0 margin.
Sophomore Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran)
went 2-for-3 for the Warriors. Senior Jenny Boelk (Fond du Lac,
Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and freshman Lauren Mantz (West Bend,
Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) each added a hit. Boelk allowed three
earned runs in 1.2 innings of work to take the loss (2-10) in the
circle for WLC.
Concordia Wisconsin (18-15, 10-7 NAC) was paced at the plate by
Stephanie Brunette, Holly Zinnecker and Jannelle Schroder, who
tallied two hits each. Zinnecker and Schroder also scored two runs,
while Jenna DiMaggio drove in a pair. Sheri Weidner threw a
complete-game four-hit shutout to pickup the win (6-5). She struck
out four and walked three.
Wisconsin Lutheran (9-21, 4-16 NAC) continues its busy final
week of the regular season with a non-conference doubleheader at
North Park University in Chicago, Ill., on Wednesday. First pitch
between the Warriors and Vikings is scheduled for 4 p.m.
