MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin Lutheran College freshman
pitcher Katie Timm (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) threw the second
no-hitter in school history on Saturday as the Warriors blanked
Maranatha Baptist Bible College 8-0 in 5.0 innings in game two of a
NAC doubleheader at Warrior Field.
Timm cruised through the Crusaders lineup, striking out 11 of
the 15 batters she faced while giving up no hits, runs or
walks.
The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the first after Jenny Boelk
(Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran), who led off with a single,
scored on an RBI groundout by Maggie Mueller (Campbellsport,
Wis./Campbellsport).
Following a scoreless second, WLC added five more runs on five
hits to its total in the third for a 6-0 advantage. The Warriors
received RBIs from Mueller, Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska
Lutheran), Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) and
Lauren Mantz (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran).
Wisconsin Lutheran ended the game in the fifth with two runs for
an 8-0 lead after Dittmar and Mantz each scored in the inning.
Boelk, Dittmar and Mantz each finished with two hits in the game
for WLC, with Boelk and Dittmar scoring two runs each. Mueller,
Dittmar and Mantz also tallied two RBIs each. Ashley Zautner (Sun
Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and Laura Konop (Germantown,
Wis./Germantown) were responsible for the other two for WLC.
The Warriors (11-23, 6-16 NAC) close out their 2010 season on
Sunday when they travel to Aurora University (Ill.) for a 12 p.m.
NAC twinbill against the Spartans.
