MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team was defeated 4-0 by the Carroll University
Pioneers in a non-conference game Wednesday night at Warrior
Field.
The Warriors and Pioneers played through a tight battle for the
majority of the first half before the visitors struck late in the
period for a 1-0 lead. Andy Ksobiech netted the eventual
game-winner at 34:51 from a Steve Koprowski assist. Carroll,
out-shooting WLC 11-2 in the opening frame, held a 1-0 lead at
halftime.
CU's Mark Hietpas took matters into his own hands in the second
half by netting three scores (49th, 77th, 87th minute). He finished
tied with a game-high five of his team's 22 shots.
WLC juniors Trevor Schwartz (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland
Lutheran) (3), Jeremy Smith (Waukesha, Wis./New Berlin West) (2)
and Derrick Bordeleau (Hobart, Wis./N.E.W. Lutheran) (1) were
responsible for all six of the Warriors shot attempts. Senior Chris
Lorig (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) made 13 saves in the net.
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-8-1, 0-1 NAC) continues non-conference
action tomorrow when it hosts Finlandia University (0-4) at 7 p.m.
at Warrior Field. The contest follows the same two teams dueling in
women's action.
