Men's Soccer shutout by Raiders on Homecoming

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team was defeated by the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders, 3-0, on Homecoming Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Raiders struck first 8:28 into the first half when Brad Meissner scored unassisted to give MSOE (6-4-1, 4-0 NAC) an early lead. MSOE added another score at 17:24 on a Michael Vanek netter assisted by Dan Hosko. The score stood 2-0 in favor of the Raiders at the break.

Wisconsin Lutheran was credited with five shots in the first half, compared to 10 for the Raiders.

The teams played evenly throughout most of the second half as the Warriors narrowly were out-shot by the Raiders, 8-6. MSOE's Hosko scored the only goal of the second half at 73:38 assisted by Patrick Gathof for the final 3-0 margin.

Freshman Jake Semmann (Grafton, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) attempted a team-high three of WLC's 11 shots in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Jon Stewart (Waukesha, Wis./South) made nine saves in all 90 minutes in the net.

Hosko finished with six of the Raiders' 18 shots for the game. Garrett Farin made three saves in goal for MSOE.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-6, 0-4 NAC) remains home to face Rockford College (3-6, 0-5 NAC) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Warrior Field.
