MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's soccer team fell to Benedictine University 3-0 in a
Northern Athletics Conference game Wednesday night at Warrior
Field.
The Eagles (6-6-1, 5-4 NAC) scored just 7:44 into play when
Briana Grenke found the back of the net off a pass from Nikki
Jhanji to put the Warriors in an early 1-0 hole.
That would be the only goal in the opening half as WLC keeper
Sarah Luebke (Kaukauna, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) did her part to
keep the game close by making several big saves in the first 45
minutes. For the half, Luebke tallied nine saves.
The Warriors recorded six shots before the break compared to the
Eagles' 14 shots. Benedictine keeper Michelle Del Sarto notched
three saves in the opening period.
A pair of second half goals by the Eagles' Lindsay Prokaski
helped BenU to the 3-0 victory. Prokaski scored her first goal at
the 59:08 mark and then recorded the final goal with 11:01
remaining in the contest. Kathryn Lipka was credited with an assist
on the final goal.
Luebke finished with 13 saves on the night for the forest green
and white, while Del Sarto tallied five saves for the Eagles.
Sophomore Niki DiSalvo (Waterford, Wis./Waterford) and freshman
Sarah Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) each fired
three shots to lead the WLC attack. Grenke and Jhanji each recorded
five shots for BenU. The visitors out-shot the hosts, 23-11.
The Warriors (2-12, 2-6 NAC) return to action Saturday when they
travel to Mequon, Wis., to face off against rival Concordia
University Wisconsin (8-5, 7-2 NAC). Game time between the Warriors
and Falcons is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Fitting Field.
