MEQUON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
softball team was swept by Northern Athletics Conference rival
Concordia University Wisconsin 5-0 and 11-8 Monday at CUW Softball
Field.
In game two, the bats came out blazing. The Warriors struck
first tallying three runs in the top of the first. The Falcons
answered in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs of their
own. The second inning was a similar story with the Warriors adding
one run while the Falcons tacked on two more. Concordia widened the
gap with four hits in the third inning, extending their lead to
9-4. The Warriors fought back in the fourth with three runs and
held the Falcons at bay. CUW answered back in the fifth by plating
its final two runs. Both teams posted scoreless frames in the
sixth, and the Warriors final efforts couldn't gain them the upper
hand.
The Warriors posted seven hits to the Falcons 16 in the 11-8
loss. Kendra Thomas (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) suffered the loss in
the circle pitching two innings. Katie Timm (Franklin,
Wis./Franklin) relieved Thomas in the circle and threw the final
four frames. Timm led the hitting attack in game two finishing
2-for-3 with an RBI. Jocelyn Bykowski (Greendale, Wis./Greendale)
and Thomas each collected two RBI apiece for the Warriors.
The Warriors were blanked in game one, falling to the Falcons
(23-7, 14-2 NAC) by a 5-0 final. Timm took the loss in the circle
after scattering seven hits. Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg,
Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) led the hitting drive for the Warriors
with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.
Wisconsin Lutheran (8-20, 5-13 NAC) continues its 10-game week
Tuesday with a NAC doubleheader at Lakeland College (8-20, 8-6
NAC). First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Muskie Field.
