Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team completed a doubleheader sweep over Northern Athletics Conference opponent Maranatha Baptist Bible College (7-27, 1-21 NAC) Saturday afternoon at Brandt-Quirk Park. The Warriors won the opener 13-1 in five innings before taking game two 10-5.

The Warriors offense came alive early in the first game as they put up five runs in the second inning. Kendra Thomas (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) doubled in two runs, Jenny Rechlicz (West Allis, Wis./Nathan Hale) singled in two runs and Katie Timm (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) drove in the final run of the inning with an RBI single.

Wisconsin Lutheran added three more in the top of the third inning from RBIs by Emily Snider (La Crosse, Wis./Luther) and Thomas for an 8-0 lead.

The final five runs for the Warriors came in the top of the fourth to put the game out of reach. The only run the Crusaders were able to put on the board came in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game ended in the fifth due to run-rule.

Timm earned the win, pitching all five innings. She allowed just one run on nine hits, while striking out eight. Offensively, Thomas drove in four runs, while Rechlicz drove in three. Thomas and Rechlicz also scored two runs each while going 2-for-3 at the plate.

In the nightcap, WLC put up three runs in the top of the first inning by receiving RBIs from a Lauren Mantz (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) single, Jocelyn Bykowski (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) walk and a Snider sacrifice fly. MBBC added a run of its own in the bottom of the inning to trail 3-1 after the first.

In the third inning, RBI singles from Mantz and Bykowski, along with an RBI double from Snider and two-RBI double from Kelsi Daffner (Two Rivers, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) gave the Warriors an 8-1 lead. MBBC scored two runs in the bottom of the frame and one in the sixth to trail 8-4.

The final two runs for WLC came from a Snider two-run double in the top of the seventh, while the Crusaders added their final run in the bottom of the inning to put the final margin of victory for the Warriors at 10-5.

Thomas tossed all seven innings, allowing five runs (three earned), eight hits and strucking out five. Snider led all hitters with four RBI by going 2-for-2. Mantz and Bykowski added two RBIs each, while Daffner added one.

Wisconsin Lutheran (12-22, 8-14 NAC) returns home to Warrior Field Sunday for its final two games of the 2011 season against the Aurora University Spartans (26-8, 18-2 NAC). First pitch is set for Noon.
