MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
softball team suffered a pair of 6-1 defeats to Northern Athletics
Conference opponent Concordia University Chicago Tuesday afternoon
at Warrior Field. The games were rescheduled from Sunday, April
3.
The Cougars scored first in the second inning using a solo
homerun for a 1-0 lead. The score remained that way until the
fourth when senior Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran)
reached home on a wild pitch.
CUC broke the game open in the fifth with four runs on three
hits, before adding another tally to its total in the seventh.
Sloan, junior Morgan Dittmar (Oostburg, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran)
and freshman Jenny Rechlicz (West Allis, Wis./Nathan Hale)
collected each of the Warriors' hits in the opening game.
Meanwhile, the Cougars accumulated 12 hits.
The Warriors fell behind 2-0 in the nightcap through three
innings. WLC had a tough time getting its bats going as it totaled
four hits in the game. Trailing 6-0 in the seventh, Wisconsin
Lutheran reached the scoring column on a solo homerun from Dittmar
for its only run of the contest.
Sophomore Lauren Mantz (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran)
added a 3-for-3 performance at the plate for the Warriors.
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-13, 0-6 NAC) will next travel to Marian
University in Fond du Lac, Wis., Saturday afternoon for a NAC
doubleheader against the Sabres. First pitch is scheduled for 12
p.m. at Smith Fields.
