NEW ULM, Minn. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's soccer team fell 4-2 to the Knights of Martin Luther
College in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon at Knight
Field.
A 3-0 first half proved to be the difference for Martin Luther
(2-1) in the game as the hosts netted three goals within five
minutes.
The Knights struck first with 17:20 into play when Lindsay Hahn
put one past Warriors keeper Mel Lemke (Brookfield, Wis./Central).
MLC' followed with two quick goals for a 3-0 lead at the 22:19 mark
of the opening period.
Martin Luther controlled the opening half, out-shooting WLC
19-4.
The Warriors responded with a much-improved second half by
out-scoring the Knights 2-1 behind goals from Lindsay Nelson
(Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Emily Seidler (St. Joseph,
Mich./Michigan Lutheran).
Nelson's netter came at the 65:38 mark when she beat the
goalkeeper off a pass from Niki DiSalvo (Waterford, Wis./Waterford)
for the 3-1 deficit.
After the Vikings pushed the lead back to 4-1 off the foot of
Hannah Jahnke, Seidler scored her second goal in as many games at
the 67:48 mark to cut the deficit to two.
Nelson recorded an assist on Seidler's goal. She fired two shots
on the net in the contest, while Seidler led the team with three
shots. Lemke made 14 saves for the forest green and white.
Kadie Drake and Hannah Mattek recorded six shots each to lead
the Knights offensively. Allison Snyder and Kelly Keese combined
for three saves in the net.
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-4, 0-1 NAC) will return to action
Wednesday for a Northern Athletics Conference match against
Dominican University in River Forest, Ill. Game time at West Campus
Field is set for 4 p.m.
