RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College women's soccer team fell to Dominican University 5-1
Wednesday afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference match at
West Campus Field.
The Stars (2-3, 1-0 NAC) used a three-goal first half to defeat
WLC. DU's Liz Phipps scored two of her three goals in the first 45
minutes of action.
Phipps struck first at the 10:27 mark and then scored 1:57 later
for her second goal, giving Dominican a 2-0 advantage. Ashley Meyer
then scored 40:30 into play to give the Stars a 3-0 halftime lead.
Meyer would score again at the 54:20 mark to expand the lead to
four goals. Phipps netted her third goal of the contest four
minutes later.
Freshman Emily Seidler (St. Joseph, Mich./Michigan Lutheran)
narrowed the lead to four with just under 19 minutes left to play
after scoring off a pass from sophomore Cari Westover (Muskego,
Wis./Muskego). Seidler's goal was her third in as many games.
Freshman Sarah Luebke (Kaukauna, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) made
eight saves in the for the Warriors. The Stars out-shot the
Warriors, 24-3.
Seidler led the forest green and white with two shots with the
other Warriors shot coming off the foot of Lindsay Nelson (Muskego,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran).
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-5, 0-2 NAC) returns to the pitch Saturday
for a NAC matchup at Marian University. Game time at Smith Fields
is set for 2:30 p.m.
