MANITOWOC, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's basketball team won its third straight game Monday as it defeated Silver Lake 75-57 in non-conference action at the UW-Manitowoc Fieldhouse.

The Warriors started off strong by scoring the first six points of the contest, including four from senior Julion Griffin (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) to take a quick 6-0 lead with 18:27 left in the first half. The WLC lead stood at 15-8 with 12:17 left in the half before the visitors rattled off a 14-0 run. Six of those points came from sophomore Sam Kuehl (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) as the Warriors built a big 29-8 lead with 8:53 remaining.

The Warriors scorched the nets in the first 20 minutes shooting 48.5 percent (16-for-33), including 44.4 percent (4-for-9) from long distance. Senior guard Nate Bauer (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) led WLC with 10 first-half points, while Kuehl and senior Tim Demuth (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) each added eight as each player drained two three-pointers.

Silver Lake struggled shooting the basketball in the first 20 minutes as it connected on just 30 percent (9-for-30) of its shots. Anthony Parker Jr. scored eight points to pace the Lakers in the opening half, while Irving Cato chipped in with six points and a first-half best six rebounds.

The second half was filled with several stoppages as the teams combined for 29 fouls after halftime. Silver Lake cut the WLC lead to as low as 10 points at 52-42 with 10:42 remaining, but the Warriors responded with a 9-1 run for a 61-43 lead with 8:10 left in the game. The Warriors wouldn't be threatened the rest of the way as they left Manitowoc with a 75-57 win.

Kuehl led four WLC players in double-figures with 16 points, while sophomore Kyle Stelse (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) matched his career-high with 14 points. Demuth and Bauer finished with 12 and 10, respectively.
