MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's soccer team fell to Northern Athletics Conference opponent
Dominican 3-0 Tuesday night at Warrior Field.
Dominican scored early in the match when Kelli Iovino netted a
shot that found its way through sophomore goalkeeper Kate
Gucinski's (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) hands in the 13th
minute. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the visiting Stars, who
out-shot the Warriors 6-0 in the opening 45 minutes.
Kelly Petty put DU ahead 2-0 at the 54 minute mark when she
connected on a header off of a corner kick from Jen Russ. Petty
added another goal seven minutes later unassisted to push the lead
to 3-0.
Petty finished with a game-high five shots, three of which were
on goal. Junior Cari Westover (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) had two shots
to lead the Warriors, while junior Maggie Smith (Elkhorn,
Wis./Elkhorn) and freshman Tori Albrecht (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI)
each added one.
Gucinski saved six shots for the Warriors, while Allie Wagner
and Sara Steponovich combined for the shared shutout in goal for
the Stars (2-3-0, 1-0-0 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-3-1, 0-2-0 NAC) hosts Marian Thursday in
the sixth game of its season-opening seven-game homestand. The NAC
match against the Sabres is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Warrior
Field.
