BELOIT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's soccer team attempted 20 more shots than non-conference
host Beloit, but the Warriors were unable to find the back of the
net as they played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw with the Bucs
Wednesday at the Strong Stadium Complex Fields.
Wisconsin Lutheran controlled the action from the opening
whistle, out-shooting the Buccaneers 10-4 in the first half.
However, Bucs goalkeeper Willow Macy kept WLC off the scoreboard
with four first-half saves. Warriors keeper Kate Gucinski
(Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) had to make just two stops in
the opening 45 minutes.
WLC continued its attack in the second half by out-shooting the
Bucs 13-2, including a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Warriors
were again held scoreless in the period as the game was sent into
extra sessions.
The Warriors attempted the only three shots between the two
teams through both overtime periods, but had to settle for their
second double-overtime draw of the season.
For the game, WLC out-shot BC 26-6 and owned an 8-3 advantage in
corner kicks. Cari Westover (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and Sarah
Luebke (Kaukauna, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) each fired four shots
to pace WLC. Gucinski made four saves in net.
Erin Chambers led the Buccaneers (3-2-1) with two shots, while
Macy made 12 saves to prevent a Warriors victory.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-5-2) continues non-conference play
Saturday when it hosts MacMurray (1-7-0) at Warrior Field. Game
time between the Warriors and Highlanders is scheduled for 1
p.m.
