Wisconsin Lutheran College junior Maggie Smith (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) netted a game-winning goal 5:59 into double-overtime to send the Warriors past MSOE 2-1 Saturday at Hart Park.

After playing through a first overtime and nearly six minutes into a second overtime scoreless, Smith lifted the Warriors to a win at the 105:59 mark, scoring unassisted, with her second goal of the season.

The win over MSOE was the first since October 15, 2005 when WLC defeated the Raiders by a 3-1 count. MSOE had recently upset Augustana (Ill.) last Sunday, a team ranked 15th in NCAA Division III.

Wisconsin Lutheran scored first in the opening half when Heather Nielsen (Wildwood, Fla./Villages) scored her team-leading third goal of the season off a pass from Cari Westover (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) for a 1-0 WLC lead with 21:12 remaining in the first half.

The lead stood until the 77:50 mark when the Raiders' Paula Bohl evened the score at 1-1. Bohl scored off an assist from Katelyn Herrmann.

The score remained 1-1 until the Smith game-winner in double-overtime helping give WLC its fourth win of the season. Smith finished with a team-best three shots on the afternoon. Bohl recorded a game-high six shots for MSOE.

Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) picked up the win in net for WLC as she tallied three saves, one of those in overtime. Her counterpart, Emma Lumpe, recorded two saves for MSOE (5-5-1, 2-4-0 NAC).

Wisconsin Lutheran (4-6-2, 1-4-0 NAC) continues its current five-game road swing Wednesday when it visits Rockford (0-8-0, 0-6-0 NAC) in a conference matchup. Gametime between the Warriors and Regents is set for 4 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field in Rockford, Ill.
