Early Score Stands As Muskies Edge Warriors

Box Score

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Alexa Piskule's goal in the fifth minute was all that Lakeland needed Tuesday afternoon as the host Muskies prevailed over the Warriors, 1-0, at Lakeland Soccer Field. The loss dropped the Warriors to 4-11-2 overall and 2-5-2 in the NACC, while the Muskies improved to 5-11-1 overall and 2-7-0 in conference play.

The game's only score came just 4:45 into the match when Piskule found the open net after Brooke Schaller poked the ball over Warriors goalkeeper Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran). LC out-shot WLC 8-5 in the opening half as Gusinski made six saves.

The Warriors limited the Muskies chances in the second half as they out-shot the hosts 5-2, but were unable to counter with the game-tying goal. Maggie Smith (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn), Cari Westover (Muskego, Wis./Muskego), and Kaitlynn Large (Racine, Wis./Park) had two shots each for WLC as both teams finished with 10 for the game. Gusinski finished with eight saves in the contest.

Piskule, Schaller, and Krystina Cook attempted three shots each for the Muskies. Ali Thompson stopped seven shots in goal.

The Warriors play their final road game of the season Friday at Aurora (13-2-0, 8-1-0 NACC). Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Vago Field. Live stats and video will be provided for the game and the links can be found on wlcsports.com.
