Seven-Time Champs Shutout Warriors In Road Finale

AURORA, Ill. - Seven-time conference champion and 19th-ranked Aurora scored two goals in each half on its way to a 4-0 shutout win over the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team Friday afternoon at Vago Field. The loss dropped WLC to 4-12-2 overall and 2-6-2 in the NACC, while AU improved its record to 14-2-0 and 9-1-0 in conference play.

The Spartans' Nicci Bermudes netted the first score of the game in the 10th minute, which proved to be the eventual game-winner. In the 21st minute, Debbie McLaughlin made the score 2-0, which stood until halftime. Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) made 11 first-half saves for the Warriors.

Mariah Ziegenbein connected on both of Aurora's scores in the second half, coming in the 47th and 64th minutes. Ziegenbein attempted a match-best seven of AU's 39 shots for the game. Gucinski made seven saves in the second half to finish with 18 for the game.

Wisconsin Lutheran wraps up its 2013 season Wednesday when it hosts Concordia Wisconsin (9-7-0, 7-2-0 NACC) on Senior Night at 7 p.m.
