Game 2 Box Score

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team didn't allow a run to score in sweeping a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader from Maranatha today at Warrior Field. The Warriors, who were designated as the visitors, won the games by scores of 8-0 and 9-0.

WLC started the scoring early in game one with a four-run, three-hit second inning started by freshman Tara Degl'Innocenti (Lisle, Ill./Naperville North) who homered in her first at-bat of the game. The scoring continued as the Warriors added one run in the third and three in the fourth thanks to a double from sophomore Dayan Gacgacao (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young), who later scored on a single from junior Kendra Thomas (Jenison, Mich./Jenison).

Degl'Innocenti and Gacgacao each went 2-for-3 to lead the Warriors at the plate in the opener.

Thomas picked up her fifth win of the season in the circle after tossing all 5.0 innings, surrendering only two hits and striking out four.

Maranatha's Hannah Clement was handed her fifth loss of the season. Clement pitched 5.0 innings, giving up eight runs on seven hits.

The Warriors continued their hot hitting in game two as seven players combined for nine runs on 10 hits. Freshman Bekah Shellberg (Burlington, Wis./ Catholic Central) had a phenomenal game, going 3-for-4 at the plate, knocking in two RBI. In the circle, she pitched all 7.0 innings, giving up only two hits and fanning five on her way to her fourth win of the year.

Senior Lauren Mantz (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) went 2-for-2 at the plate and added a RBI on a fifth-inning double.

Jana Dempsey suffered her fourth loss of the season for MBBC as she went 7.0 innings, allowing nine runs on 10 hits.

Wisconsin Lutheran (9-5, 3-1 NAC) will play its fifth and sixth consecutive games at Warrior Field tomorrow when it hosts Aurora (13-3, 5-1 NAC) in a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
