Warriors Suffer First Home Defeat Of Season

MILWAUKEE - Carroll's aggressive attack led to a 3-0 victory over the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team Friday night at Warrior Field. It was the first home loss of the season for WLC as they fell to 2-2-0 overall.

The Pioneers controlled possession early, leading to a goal in the seventh minute by Casey Weyhrich to make it 1-0. The score remained that way at halftime, with Carroll out-shooting the Warriors 13-0 in the first 45 minutes.

Carroll struck again early in the second half on a goal by Kate Halliburton in the 53rd minute. Kaitlynn Daehn's goal in the 86th minute provided the final tally.

WLC was out-shot 27-1 on the night. Junior goalkeeper Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) made 13 saves for the Warriors. Halliburton and Weyhrich each took five shots for Carroll (1-2-0). Senior forward Maggie Smith (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) took the lone shot for Wisconsin Lutheran.

The Warriors (2-2-0) return to Warrior Field to host a non-conference game Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Ripon (2-1-0).
