Warriors Drop Season Finale At Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team concluded its 2015 season Tuesday afternoon by finishing a single NACC contest against Rockford at Smith Athletic Field. The Warriors fell to the Regents 6-4 in the continuation of game two which was suspended Friday in the third inning due to rain.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Wisconsin Lutheran added two runs in the first as Alicia Barbian (Waterford, Wis./Waterford) hit a two-RBI double to left that scored Tara Degl'lnnocenti (Lisle, Ill./Naperville North) and Kaitlyn Robison (Andalusia, Ill./Rockridge).
  • The Warriors scored two more runs on RBI singles by Anna Kuske (Orange Park, Fla./Luther Preparatory) and Emily Held (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) in the third.
  • The Regents tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the frame before weather halted the contest Friday. 
  • On Tuesday, the inning was resumed with one out and a runner on second, but two straight flyouts ended Rockford's scoring threat. 
  • RU went ahead in the fifth inning on a double and a sacrifice fly to grab a 6-4 advantage.
  • Sadie Schmidt (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) singled and advanced to second on an error to give WLC a runner in scoring position with one out in the seventh but the offense couldn't collect anymore hits to plate Schmidt.

QUICK HITS

  • At the plate, the Warriors were led by Held (2-for-3) and Kuske (2-for-4). Six other WLC players collected a hit in the contest. 
  • Schmidt took the loss for Wisconsin Lutheran, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. 
  • WLC out-hit RU 10-6. 
  • Rockford was led by Stefaney Kenworthy, who went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk.
  • Sarah Moritz was the winner for the Regents, giving up no runs and just four hits in 4.0 innings and striking out six. 
  • Wisconsin Lutheran finishes its 2015 season 12-27 overall and 4-18 in the NACC. WLC graduates just one player, Dayan Gacgacao (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young), from its roster.
