Warriors Finish Runner-Up At Home Invite

HARTFORD, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team shot a two-day 608 (303-305) to finish second among 15 teams Sunday and Monday at its own WLC Fall Invitational played at Washington County Golf Course. Jacob Mortell (Eden Prairie, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) led the Warriors with a 10th-place individual finish in the 85-player field.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

• Mortell led the way for the Warriors shooting a 75 and a 76 to finish in a tie for 10th with a 151 (+7).
• Sean Esenberg (Jackson Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) shot a team-low 72 in the first round of the tournament and a 80 on the second day to finish eight-over par tying for 12th.
• Damon Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis./Tomah) paced Wisconsin Lutheran's second team at the tournament with his 152 (77-75) also tying for 12th.
• Six other Warriors players carded rounds in the 70's during the two-day tournament.
• Pete Kaufmann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) posted the Warriors' second-lowest round of the tournament with his 74 on Monday.
• Carthage won the 15-team event with a 594 (294-300) (+18), 14 strokes better than WLC's 608. 
• MSOE's Jacob Phelps carded an even-par shooting a 74 and a 70 over the two day tournament to take home medalist honors.
