LAKE GENEVA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College closed out the Grand Intercollegiate with a strong second round on Monday at Grand Geneva Resort, improving its team score by 13 strokes to finish 16th overall with a two-round total of 627 (320-307).
Sophomore
Brycen Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.) paced the Warriors with a two-day total of 149 (73-76), tying for 30th place in the 118-player field. Freshman
Braden Naumann (Hartland, Wis.) followed closely behind, tying for 49th with a 152 (79-73) that included a team-low 73 in the final round. Senior
Luke Capstran (Oak Creek, Wis.) tied for 105th at 165 (88-77), while junior
Darren Niedfeldt (Beloit, Wis.) was 109th at 168 (80-88). Rounding out the Wisconsin Lutheran lineup, sophomore
Caleb DeRuiter (Milwaukee, Wis.) tied for 113th with a 172 (91-81).
Dubuque claimed the 20-team tournament title with a 572 (290-282), led by medalist John Dobbe, who fired rounds of 68 and 66 for a tournament-winning score of 134 (-8).
The Warriors return to action October 5-6 at the MSOE Fall Invitational, played at historic Brown Deer Park Golf Course in Milwaukee.
