Box Score 2 KENOSHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team opened the northern portion of its schedule with a pair of losses, 5-2 in game one and 9-0 in six innings in game two, against Carthage on Tuesday afternoon at the Carthage Softball Field.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Lady Reds jumped out to an early lead with a three-run bottom of the first, but WLC left the bases loaded to keep the game in reach early.
- Carthage got another run in the second on a two-run double to extend the lead to 3-0.
- Wisconsin Lutheran got on the board on an unearned run from a throwing error to trim the lead to 3-1.
- The Warriors cut the deficit to just one after a Rebecca Yniguez (Wildomar, Calif./California Lutheran) single down the left field line to score Megan Belongia (Ashwaubenon, Wis./Ashwaubenon).
- The hosts capitalized on an error to get an insurance run back in the sixth.
- Taylor Bjork (Horicon, Wis./Horicon) suffered the loss in 5.0 innings of work, allowing four earned runs on six hits.
- Bjork and Yniguez paced the offense in game one with two hits apiece.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- For the second straight game, Carthage got on the board first, scoring three runs on four hits.
- The hosts scored another run in the fourth before Sydney Horton (Crestwood, Ill./Alan B. Shepard) halted the rally with a caught stealing from behind the plate.
- The Lady Reds broke the game open in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead after scoring three runs on three hits.
- A two-run home run to left center off the bat of Darian Pelsor concluded the game 9-0 in six innings.
- Kassie Guerrero (Chicago, Ill./Trinity) recorded the loss by allowing six earned runs in 4.0 innings in the circle.
- Yniguez, Abby Akright (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap), and Kaitlyn Robison (Andalusia, Ill./Rockridge) recorded the only hits for WLC, as Carthage out-hit Wisconsin Lutheran 12-3.
FOR THE FOES
- Three Lady Reds recorded two hits in game one. Katie Herron won her second game in the circle, pitching a complete game.
- In game two, Kay Uhwat-Vicicondi went 3-for-3 for Carthage. Amy Goldsmith recorded the win in a complete game, three-hit effort.
UP NEXT
- The Warriors open NACC play on Saturday with a trip to Rockford (3-9, 0-0 NACC) for two games, scheduled for Noon and 2:00 p.m. The Regents are coming off a doubleheader split against Mount Mary last Sunday afternoon.
